You may know someone who has decided to have children later in life that what used to be the case who then struggle to have a child. This is because as you get older statistically speaking the chances of a couple being able to have a child decrease. For a start therefore a couple should decide to have a baby as early as possible and preferably prior to the age of 35 where statistically the chances of conceiving are dramatically reduced.
A major part of planning to get pregnant naturally revolves around identifying the ovulation point in a woman's cycle. If for example a woman has her period every 28 days then she will know that her ovulation date is 2 weeks prior to the period start date. She can then, with some certainty, know that her ovulation date is 14 days from the start of her last period and that should then be the target date for her to try and conceive.
In the case above if she knows that her ovulation date is on day 14 then, given that sperms can survive in the body for a couple of days, she should try and conceive on days 12, 14 and 16. This will give full coverage for the time frame when ovulation takes place for a sperm to find the egg.
Also around this time the couple should pay particular attention to their diet. The women may for example be inclined to take a folic acid supplement as that has been shown to help conception and indeed development once conception has taken place.
Other things to avoid in the diet are caffeine (in drinks or supplements) and alcohol which can greatly disrupt the bodies balance and in effect stop you being able to get pregnant. Naturally enough it makes sense therefore to avoid these items during the stage when you are trying for a baby.
Furthermore items in your diet such as meat, dairy and eggs should be organic. You don't want to take a chance of having any chemicals in the food products stopping you being able to get pregnant naturally.
Processed foods should also be avoided - so avoid anything that comes pre prepared from the supermarket. You will often find high levels of salt and other items in these foods which normally are not really good for you but in the case of when you are trying to get pregnant then they should be avoided.
